About the Artist
Passionate. Creative. Purposeful
My art journey began in 1987 when I came to American at the age of 9. I quickly made Columbia, SC my home. Beginning at an early age, art was central and innately important. I took an art class every year until I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Painting from the University of South Carolina in 2003. Art has helped me through many challenges and has inspired me profoundly. Producing art is an integral part of my daily life as a nail artist and as a professional artist.
As a Vietnamese American abstract impressionist artist, my goal is to explore the many levels of my authentic self through a spectrum of artistic expressions that encompass my visual interests, thoughts, and emotions. My works consist of intuitive markings of varying abstractions drawn from past and present life experiences and images. I find the nuances and imperfections of my realized visualizations beautiful. Through the use of organic movement created by brushstrokes and colors, and more specifically the alluring quality of light, my endeavor is to provoke emotion and shed meaning on the human spirit.
FOLLOW MY ART JOURNEY
My art career began January 1, 2018. After graduating with a BFA from the university in 2003, I worked full time as a nail artist for my family's nail business. After 15 years at the salon, I decided to finally follow my true passion of being a free spirited artist.
I am on a path of self discovery and acceptance , which have influenced my emotional and spiritual growth . The interconnectedness between nature and the self provides unequivocal inspiration. Therefore, this introspection has energized me everyday as an artist. This journey has helped me to open up more authentically. Most importantly, I get to express both my strengths and vulnerabilities without apologies through my artworks. With that, I am beyond grateful.
